Theme Overview - What a Wild and Wonderful World

Autumn 2017

Our topic this term is Romans Rule!  We will be learning about what happened after the Romans arrived in Britain. We will be paying a visit to Chedworth Roman Villa and will be finding out about Lydney's very own Roman temple. Watch this space for more information about our learning....we will be designing and making our own Roman chariots in the coming weeks - look out for them here!

Information about reading and spelling.

Children in Class 2 will mainly be taught to read in school through guided reading sessions in a group.  Children will bring home a book from school to share at home, and we encourage everybody to read whenever and wherever possible! TiIlly, our class bookworm, will be keeping her eye out for keen readers so that she can visit them at home to hear some stories. Please send books into school everyday, as an adult may want to share a child's reading book.

Spellings will be taught in small group sessions over the week.  These spellings will be sent home towards the end of the week for re-cap and practise, ready for a spelling test on Monday. There will be a spelling test every Monday, starting from Monday September 18th.

Tasting apples!

We have been tasting apples and using our senses to think of adjectives to describe the apples.  We will be using our ideas to write our own poems for our Harvest festival.

Maths learning!

Year 3 were using base ten equipment and place value counters to compare numbers.
