Field Trip

We visited Hopewell Colliery to learn about the history of freemining in the Forest of Dean. Rich Daniels took us on a tour of the mine, and we really got a feel for what it would have been like to work in the mine.

After lunch, we visited the site of New Fancy Colliery.  We looked at the geomap to find out where the mines used to be. We walked up to the viewpoint.  We could see for miles, and it really showed us how vast the Forest of Dean is. We did some foraging in the woods, to collect materials for artwork back in school.
